Hey guys: I finished at 165 this last week-not great but it could have been worse. I do't know what Dad's was.

About Thanksgiving: Think about waiving the dessert 3 points for Thursday through Sunday for everyone but still doing workouts and fruits and vegies, etc. Or we could do an extra 15 minutes of cardio for those days if we choose to have dessert. ( I know calorie wise it doesn't really compensate for a piece of pie but might remove some of the guilt.)

It also might be nice if we only had to work out 5 days a week for those who have night church callings and obligations or for us old folks who need a rest. Or we could give extra points for those who work out 6 days a week to make up for any poor choices through the week.

I think I would be more motivated if I was seeing any change at all on the scales--any at all. Any suggestions for me???

I talked to partner Jenn and we would like to allow treats during Christmas-you only get them once a year. Again, it could be a trade off with more workout time or eliminate the dessert/candy points for that month. Or you could do extra credit for those who choose not to eat any treats at all. Think about it.

Also is zucchini bread, banana bread, really a fruit??? Love, Mom

What do you guys want to do?

We were wondering what you guys wanted to do with a few things. Please leave your feedback.

1. What do you want to do about Thanksgiving? Thanksgiving can be a free day, but do you want more free days then that? Obviously we don't want to many so we just end up where we started.

2. Would you guys rather go to weekly or stay at monthly? The concern being that we want to keep people motivated and once someone has a bad day we don't want them to fee like they can take the whole month off. We we did go weekly we could switch partners around more, and if we all put in 16 dollars a month the winning team could splint 40 dollars a week.

Anyway let me know what you think. Have a good Thanksgiving

Step your GAIM up!!!!!!

Hey Team Perfection and others, it's time to step up to the plate before this turns into a blowout. I can sense your resolves weakening after 10 measly days while Team Gaim is picking up steam. At this point I don't know how you can keep up. But alas, I am not in this for the glory of winning, but for the love of my health and that of my dear partner Sargeant Aim. Here is a glimpse of the joy that I have felt over the past week an a half:

1) Had the pleasure of awakening at 5:30 this morning for a nice trip to the gym. Not only did an early morning run invigorate mind, soul and body for a thrilling day of actuarial work, but I still am left with the prospect of a delightful evening stretch.

2) Baby Carrots. Need I say more.

3) Exotic Fruits

3) My stomach has a break from digesting this:

4) I now look like this guy:

5) Finally, what greater joy than having some of these for a mid-morning snack. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning - EVERY DAY!!!
In summary, I am not a selfish man. I want others to feel of my joy and happiness. STEP YOUR GAIM up and you too can feel of this.

I didn't come in last...

It was a rough week for me, didn't feel up to working out one day with being sick almost all week, and that killed me but... hey! thats life! I came in with a 165...Bringing Team Jenn and Susan to a 334 lets see what we can do this week!

Lightweights

me and wah may suffer some weight set back but we are still rolling. I am not sure what wah had but I had a 174, and a smile on my face while doing it.
What a great week you all had. Even Sweet Scott had a perfect score and hung in there with his militant partner!!! Mommy's so proud of you. Dad totaled 155 for the week. He is struggling with water and a partner who was on the East coast for the week. Dad reminds me that coke has a lot of water in it. Susan got 169 points and I really enjoyed my birthday week. Hopefully I can find a vegetable and eat it occasionally. Looking forward to another great week with all of you. Love Mom

360 PERFECTION!

After seeing how good you guys have done this week, I think we should start it next week! lol :) I think that we should have one free meal you can eat out a week. That seems to be everyones complaint. You can give yourself points for last week for going out to eat once if you did. I think we should keep track and if there is a tie perhaps that can be the tie breaker. On that note, team PERFECTION is racked up a perfect score also! 360. We are not slowing down either. Team Gaim sounds like you need a break! Kick up your feet and have an ice cream or two this week):

!!!GUILTY AS CHARGED!!!

So, I must get something off my chest. I was under the impression that we do have one day a week where we can eat out, but I am not exactly sure what the consensus is. "Cute Kevin" and I had take-out last night, and I feel extremely GUILTY.

With that being said, the score of team GAIM is either: 357 or 360 depending upon what was decided about eating out. I think I may have come to a conclusion pre-maturely.

I am fine either way with having a day to eat out each week, and I am fine if we don't. If we decide not to have a day to eat out, consider my hand slapped and know it won't happen again:)

I think Kevin should get his points because he is so cute.(Love, Mom) What if Kevin can count painting for his workout points on the nights he paints and works out on the days he doesn't paint. I've painted before and I think it is definitely aerobic, stretching and sometimes involves lifting heavy paint cans over and over.

So far I have only eaten out 4 times this week. It ought to get better from here. I would like to propose that we can eat out once a week if we want and choose the day that works best for us. Having Sunday off from eating doesn't really enable any of us to go out socially for a little fun. I'm still craving sugar but today was better than yesterday. Love, Mom
Hi everyone! I just wanted to get your imput and ideas on a few situations we have.

#1- What do you think we should do if someone (mostly Wah) doesn't have time to workout. If he is going to work at 6 and working til midnight I don't think he should be punished if he is providing for his family. Does anyone have ideas what we could do in the situation. Some suggestions have been to make eating healthy more points for him, having his partner make up the time he wasn't able to work out, giving him the points if he has a good track record of working out on the other days giving him the points. Let me know what you think. I want to make it so it's fair for everyone.

#2- What about when people are sick? Any ideas here?

#3- As far as candy and sweets use your best judgement.

Thanks for your help. If you have any other concerns or things you want changed let me know. It's been fun having some motivation and a reason to workout:)

DAY TWO

Just wanted to post a special message from team GAIM. Just wanted to thank G for resisting the apple pie his friend sent over- what will power! Maximum points G, Maximum points! After our conversation last night (3 points) I have come to a very powerful conclusion: Nilla Waffers are found on the Cracker Aisle:)

Perfect Score!

Just thought I would let you all know that you have some catching to do. Laurie and me racked in a perfect score for the day. That's right 60! Good luck catching up with us. We don't plan on slowing down. Keep eating those cinnamon rolls, nila wafer crackers, and candy. Just make sure you get Amy OUR money by the end of the month.

What is a serving size for fruits and veggies?

The United States Department of Agriculture sets a serving size for fruit or vegetables to be equal to about one-half cup. Greens like spinach and lettuce have a serving size equal to one full cup. One serving of sliced fruit is equal to one-half cup; however a single piece of fruit, such as an apple or an orange counts as one serving. How did the USDA decide that one-half cup is a serving size? The decision was based on the portion sizes that people typically eat, ease of use and nutritional content of fruits and vegetables.
Many experts suggest we need from five to nine servings of fruits and vegetables every day. That is a total. Older or inactive women and smaller children need at least three servings of vegetables and two servings of fruit. Growing kids, teen girls, most men and active women would eat at least four servings of vegetables and three servings of fruit everyday. Teen boys and active men should eat at least five servings of vegetables and four servings of fruit. Unfortunately many people fail to eat even five servings each day.
Here are some typical serving sizes for fruits and vegetables:
Fruits
one banana
six strawberries
two plums
fifteen grapes
one apple
one peach
one half cup of orange or other fruit juice Vegetables
five broccoli florets
ten baby carrots
one roma tomato
3/4 cup tomato juice
half of a baked sweet potato
one ear of corn
four slices of an onion You may notice that serving sizes on the Nutrition Facts Label of packaged fruits and vegetables are not always the same size as the one-half cup serving size that the USDA has set for the food pyramid. For example, some frozen vegetable blends may list the serving size as 3/4 cup, which would meet one and one half of your vegetable need for the day.
One serving of a fruit or vegetable juice is four ounces. V8 Fusion claims to meet one serving of fruit and one serving of vegetables in one eight ounce glass. A large glass may hold about 12 ounces, which would give you three servings of fruits and vegetables
